From celebrating local history to supporting small businesses, Billy Moore Days continues to bring families, entrepreneurs, and neighbors together in the heart of Avondale.
There is something special about a community coming together to celebrate its history, support local businesses, and enjoy traditions that have been passed down through generations. That spirit was at the center of the 2026 Billy Moore Days celebration in Avondale, Arizona.
The four-day celebration brought together residents, visitors, families, and entrepreneurs for an event filled with entertainment, carnival attractions, food, and community pride. According to the City of Avondale, this year's celebration welcomed more than 32,000 visitors, setting a new attendance record and highlighting the continued popularity of one of the West Valley's longstanding community traditions.
For Arizona Coffea, this year's celebration offered an opportunity to experience Billy Moore Days from a different perspective. Rather than attending solely as visitors, my family and I participated as vendors, representing our family-owned honey brand, Mama Honee.

What began as an opportunity to introduce our products to the community became an experience that reinforced the importance of local traditions, small businesses, and the connections that bring people together.
A Celebration Rooted in Avondale's History
Billy Moore Days is more than an annual festival. It is a celebration of Avondale's beginnings and the people who helped shape the community.
The event honors Billy Moore, an early settler who established a stagecoach stop near the Agua Fria River in the late 1800s. The settlement was originally known as Coldwater before eventually becoming the city we know today as Avondale.
While Avondale has experienced tremendous growth over the years, Billy Moore Days continues to connect residents with the city's history while welcoming new generations to take part in the celebration.
From the traditional parade through Old Town Avondale to the carnival and festivities at Festival Fields Park, the annual event provides families and visitors with opportunities to enjoy entertainment, explore local businesses, and create lasting memories.

Our Experience as Vendors: Bringing Mama Honee to Billy Moore Days
This year, our family had the opportunity to participate in Billy Moore Days as vendors through our honey brand, Mama Honee.
As a family-owned business, Mama Honee was created with the purpose of building something meaningful together while establishing a legacy for our children. Participating in community events allows us to introduce our brand, share our products, and connect directly with the people who support small businesses.
Working our booth during Billy Moore Days gave us a firsthand look at the dedication involved in participating in a large community celebration. From preparing inventory and organizing our display to spending time interacting with visitors, the experience required preparation, teamwork, and a willingness to step outside our everyday routine.
It also gave us an opportunity to see the event from a perspective that many attendees may not experience.
Behind each vendor booth was an entrepreneur, family, or organization that had invested time, money, and effort into being part of the celebration. Every business represented something different, but together, they contributed to the atmosphere that made the festival such an important community gathering.
As the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Arizona Coffea, I regularly explore Arizona's communities, discover local businesses, and share the stories of the people behind them. Participating in Billy Moore Days through Mama Honee allowed me to experience that same entrepreneurial spirit from the other side of the vendor table.
It was a reminder that small businesses are more than the products they sell. They represent families, dreams, creativity, and individuals working to establish something meaningful within their communities.

Why Community Events Matter for Small Businesses
For many small business owners, participating in festivals and community celebrations represents an opportunity to introduce their products to new audiences while building relationships with potential customers.
Unlike online shopping, community events create an environment where visitors can meet the people behind the brands, ask questions, learn about products, and experience businesses in a more personal way.
These interactions are particularly valuable for emerging businesses that are still developing their presence within the community.
Participating in events like Billy Moore Days also requires a considerable investment. Vendors must prepare inventory, purchase supplies, coordinate transportation, set up displays, and dedicate hours to operating their booths. For family-owned businesses, these responsibilities are often shared among family members who are working together to grow something of their own.

Our experience with Mama Honee reinforced how much work takes place behind the scenes before visitors ever approach a vendor's booth.
It also highlighted why supporting local businesses matters. Every conversation, recommendation, purchase, and introduction can contribute to the growth of a small business.
While the entertainment and festivities may attract visitors, the local entrepreneurs and organizations participating in these celebrations help create the unique experiences that keep communities connected.
More Than 32,000 Visitors Celebrate Avondale
This year's Billy Moore Days celebration reached a significant milestone, welcoming more than 32,000 visitors across four days.
In a message shared with event participants, the City of Avondale expressed its appreciation to the parade participants, exhibitors, vendors, and volunteers who contributed to the celebration's success.
The city recognized the creativity and enthusiasm of parade participants, the contributions of festival vendors, and the dedication of volunteers who helped support the event.
With record-breaking attendance, the celebration demonstrated the community's continued interest in gathering for experiences that honor Avondale's history while creating opportunities for connection and entertainment.
Events of this size require collaboration between city organizers, volunteers, local businesses, and community members. Each plays a role in creating an atmosphere that welcomes both longtime residents and first-time visitors.
For the many families attending, Billy Moore Days provided an opportunity to enjoy time together, participate in familiar traditions, and experience a different side of the West Valley.
For local entrepreneurs, it offered a platform to connect with thousands of potential customers and become part of a larger community celebration.

Preserving Traditions While Building Community
As cities throughout Arizona continue to expand, community celebrations like Billy Moore Days serve an important purpose.
They preserve local history while creating opportunities for new residents and younger generations to connect with the communities they call home.
They also offer a reminder that meaningful experiences do not always require traveling far from home. Sometimes, the traditions, businesses, and people worth discovering are right in our own neighborhoods.
For Arizona Coffea, sharing stories like Billy Moore Days is part of our commitment to highlighting the people, places, and experiences that make Arizona unique.
Our participation as Mama Honee vendors added a personal layer to that mission. We were not simply observing a community event. We were participating in it, working alongside other businesses, and contributing to a celebration that has become part of Avondale's identity.
Experiences like these remind us why local storytelling matters. Every community has a history worth preserving, businesses worth discovering, and people whose contributions deserve recognition.

Looking Ahead
With another Billy Moore Days celebration in the books, the City of Avondale has plenty to celebrate. Record-breaking attendance, community participation, and the continued support of local businesses have helped reinforce the event's place among the West Valley's longstanding traditions.
For our family, participating through Mama Honee was an opportunity to be part of something bigger than our own business. It allowed us to connect our entrepreneurial journey with a celebration rooted in history, family, and community.
And for Arizona Coffea, the experience was another reminder of why we continue to explore and share the stories that make Arizona special.
Because beyond the carnival rides, entertainment, and festival attractions, celebrations like Billy Moore Days are ultimately about the people who show up, the connections they create, and the traditions that continue to bring them together.
